Your Future Role
Take on a new challenge and help shape the future of train operations at Alstom. You will report to the Senior Fleet Maintenance Controller and play a vital role in providing technical expertise and support to the depot teams in delivering Alstom’s contractual obligations for the maintenance and service of Metro rolling stock. Collaborating closely with internal teams, you will ensure high standards in operational efficiency, reliability, and safety while addressing any engineering challenges that may arise. You will enhance fleet performance by diagnosing faults and conducting repairs on the 95TS fleet, contributing to the overall improvement of fleet reliability.
We’ll Look to You To:
- Represent Alstom in the customer’s control room, providing ongoing support regarding rolling stock faults to minimise delays.
- Compile service orders and assist the Service Delivery Managers (SDMs) with depot planning.Control and report ‘in-service’ failures, liaising with call points, depots, and the on-call manager when major issues arise.
- Monitor rolling stock balance, spares, and defects, ensuring requested trains are put on the correct path through the Line Controller and Service Delivery Managers.
- Influence and assist the Line Controller in making decisions regarding rolling stock issues, fostering strong working relationships between Alstom and the customer, as well as the depots.
- Inform the Call Point of relevant jobs, collating and distributing reports effectively.
- Advise depot staff and engineering of new and recurring train failures and faults.Record, monitor, and correct snapshots of the system, effectively communicating through various channels such as reports, text messages, and emails.
- Plan and coordinate service from outstations, participating in morning meetings and working in depots when necessary.
- Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations and company quality standards.

Essential:
- HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent level qualification or substantial experience gained.
- Experience working within a rolling stock maintenance environment.
- Knowledge of Railway Group Standards associated with train systems and products.
- Working knowledge of quality and health and safety standards and systems.
- IT skills – competent user of personal computers, including office packages, e-mail, and intranet.
- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- Planning and organisational skills to meet departmental service objectives.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards and systems
- Previous experience of London Underground Rolling Stock
- Knowledge of Rail industry IT systems, SAP Understanding of Metro trains business and its Customer requirements.
- Knowledge and understanding of Transport for London / Rail industry Rules and Regulations.
