We are now recruiting for an Apprentice Rolling Stock Technician to support Midland Metro Ltd.’s mission which is to provide a safe and reliable tram service.

You will perform preventative scheduled maintenance on the trams, working on systems incorporating mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, in accordance with the vehicle maintenance instructions and departmental procedures.

In addition to this as our Apprentice Rolling Stock Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the testing, commissioning and acceptance of new trams.
  • Recording all work activities including all preventative and corrective maintenance on paper records and/or in the Asset Management Information System (AMIS)
  • Support Rolling Stock Engineering Management in the delivery of the production plan.
  • Ensuring exam tasks are being completed in a timely manner and in compliance with the planned maintenance schedule.
  • Undertaking driving duties within depot confines in accordance with the depot operating procedures.
  • Undertaking training and competence assessments as appropriate to achieve MML specific and national qualifications.

To be successful in this role, it is essential that you have:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade C/4 or above (or equivalent qualifications) which include Maths, English and Science
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold a Full UK Driving License prior to completing the apprenticeship
