This opportunity focuses on providing skills-based coaching to young people aged 16 to 18 years. The opportunity asks for only one hour a month of a volunteers’ time across six months, running from January until June 2025. Training and onboarding available over the autumn months.
No prior experience necessary, as a comprehensive online training and onboarding process helps all volunteers establish pedagogical knowledge, confidence and access to our bespoke resources. All volunteers benefit from tailored on-going support from professional staff throughout their time on the programme, enabling them to be inspirational coaches for our young people.

Route Services is a division of Network Rail that provides the Routes with services so they can help Network Rail deliver a better railway for a better Britain. This role sits within Supply Chain Operations (SCO), an area of the business which supplies and delivers the logistics, materials, components, rail and road fleet that enable the maintenance and renewal of the railway.
SCO keeps the materials, machinery and components required by its customers moving – making sure they are on-site when needed so work can go ahead as planned and on schedule.
You will lead the development and implementation of the route strategy and the route asset management plans, managing and directing the maintenance and renewals work banks, specifications and acceptance criteria.
The Regulatory Economics team provides rigorous analysis to underpin the development of policy and support decision-making. Much of our work is directed at the regulation of the mainline railway, including oversight of the regimes for financial incentive payments and access charges.
The successful applicant will be responsible for advising across ORR’s regulatory functions. We do not expect applicants to have existing expertise in all areas of ORR’s work but you must be willing to advise on a wide range of matters in relation to both our economic and safety policy functions. This Head of Operations position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective, joined-up binational, health and safety regulation of the Channel Tunnel. In addition to leading the delivery of ORR’s regulatory responsibilities, the successful candidate will be formally appointed by the Secretary of State as the Head of the UK Delegation to the CTSA where they will be responsible for advising and supporting the independent Franco-British Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on all matters concerning safety in the construction and operation of the 50.46 Km long tunnels under the English Channel and associated terminal areas.
