Banter is harmless right? Not necessarily, especially when it leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth and wishing you had said something when it happened.
In recent years the normalisation of sexist banter in the workplace has led to it’s almost acceptance as part of everyday work culture. The ‘banter’ almost sounds jovial and fun but banter can be hurtful, insidious and downright sexist at times and the worst thing is when you don’t realise what’s happened until it has.
This workshop, sponsored by Virgin East Coast and hosted at their Training Academy at York Station, aims to educate women to understand how to identify occasions of banter and how to deal with them head-on.
Rosie Clarke of Inclusive Employers will lead this session and help participants to deal with banter at work in a safe and direct way and there will be interactive small group discussions and activities.
The workshop begins at 12.30pm with registration, lunch and networking, workshop at 1.30pm and closes at 3.30pm.
