Channel 4 & Love Productions – The Biggest Little Railway in the World

Women in Rail (WR) has been contacted by Love Productions (who make a variety of shows such as The Great British Bake Off and The Great Pottery Throwdown) to put forward volunteers for an exciting new ground-breaking TV series for Channel 4 where 4 teams of 10-14 people will attempt to build the biggest model railway track ever constructed, stretching 72 miles along the Great Glen Way, from Fort William to Inverness in Scotland. The attached flyer contains information about the show.

The joy and fun of the series will come from the fact that the teams will have to work out how to navigate the landscape – so build bridges and tunnels, create pulley systems to get trains up and down inclines and so on. Love Productions will provide the track and trains.

Love Productions is looking for 4 teams of 10 -14 volunteers. Each team member will be mixed with teams from other sectors so as to comprise people with different skill-sets and areas of expertise, e.g railway enthusiasts, engineers, carpenters, people with construction experience etc. They may also be looking for local volunteers in order to complete this record-breaking project.

WR has agreed to work with Love Productions and help put the 4 teams of 10 -14 volunteers together so if you are interested in taking part, please register at www.applyfortrains.co.uk or alternatively email Love Productions at trains@loveproductions.co.uk. You can also text them on 07759 317271 or call them on 020 7067 4820.

The deadline for application is 21st April. There will be a meet and greet with successful applicants on the 29th and 30th of April and filming will take place for 2 weeks from 19th June 2017.

It is a great opportunity for the UK railway industry to show the wide range of skills and passion we have in our industry!
