On Monday 17th November 2014, Women in Rail in partnership with Westminster Advisers hosted a breakfast seminar “Women in Transport – changing the perceptions of the industry” with guest Baroness Susan Kramer, Minister for Transport, as keynote speaker.

Baroness Kramer spoke on the subject of gender imbalance across all transport sectors, what can be done to change perceptions in the rail industry and how we can drive the recruitment of women at all levels.

Baroness Kramer is a strong supporter of Women in Rail (she kindly supported our Derby event “Women in Engineering: What is Holding You Back” in May this year) and was very grateful for the work undertaken by Women in Rail, including our initiatives to support women within the rail industry, raise awareness to the benefits of improving gender diversity within the sector and our campaign to showcase rail as an exciting career option for the young generations.

The event took place at the Conrad London St James, Westminster, 22-28 Broadway, SW1H 0BH, from 7.45am – 9.30am and was attended by circa 30 guests from across the rail and transport industry.
