We are looking for a Deputy Director, Railway Safety. This role forms an important part of our Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly into the Director of Railway Safety.

We are looking for a truly exceptional and inspirational leader, who will role model corporate leadership, organisational
values and cultural aspirations.

Although there may be some changes to team structure and accountabilities over time, you’ll be responsible for
overseeing the delivery of our health and safety regulatory activities across GB’s non-mainline railways, leading a team of
around 30 colleagues (including warranted inspectors). It covers Transport for London, circa 220 individual Heritage
Railways, the seven main modern tram systems, and our high-gearing risk reduction role in securing Safety by Design.
You will also lead our team of specialist Inspectors who provide expert support in a range of topic areas including civil
engineering, electrical safety, occupational health, human factors, and digital safety.

You’ll be required to think strategically but will need to draw upon your experience of identifying and managing potential
major accident and conventional health and safety risks to make important regulatory decisions to safeguard passengers,
members of the public, and other users of the system.

This is an SCS1 (Senior Civil Servant) post with a salary of up to £90,000 per annum.
