Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your instrumentation testing expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and detail-oriented teammates. This is a Test Lab/dynamic testing role that involves large instrumentation testing and data acquisition set-ups.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of rail vehicles by conducting rigorous component-level and validation testing. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Operations), define test methodologies and develop operating modes, and much more.

We’ll look to you for:

  • Defining the most appropriate test methodology, testing means, and developing the test operating mode in accordance with the Test Laboratory Quality Management System.
  • Performing tests independently while guaranteeing the accuracy and confidentiality of test results.
  • Preparing the test, including designing and developing necessary tools for test execution.
  • Implementing, verifying, and ensuring compliance of measuring equipment through functional checks and calibration.
  • Managing and organising the daily test schedule to ensure smooth execution.
  • Respecting and enforcing EHS rules, including Lock Out Tag Out instructions, to maintain a safe testing environment.
  • Supervising and/or executing test activities, analysing test results in real-time, and deciding if a test needs to be redone.
  • Writing and validating test procedures to ensure compliance with laboratory activity requirements.
  • Processing test result data and creating comprehensive static and dynamic test reports.
  • Ensuring the capitalisation of lessons learned (REX) from previous test campaigns to improve quality, cost, and delivery (QCD).

All about you

We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we don’t expect you to have every single skill. Instead, we’ve listed some that we think will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience or understanding of instrumentation testing.
  • Knowledge of test execution in domains such as Aerodynamics, Dimensional & gauge, Electromagnetic Compatibility, Acoustics/noise, Railway dynamics, Weight management & allocation, Climatic comfort, Winterisation, Smoke detection/Fire protection systems, Horn & headlights.
  • Familiarity with metrology, equipment calibration, and test instrumentation set-up.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills, including expertise in test analysis and writing detailed test reports.
  • Ability to define and implement test methodologies and procedures.
  • Organisational skills for daily test schedule management and resource preparation.
  • Resilience and adaptability to manage test activities, analyse results in real-time, and make informed decisions under pressure.
