In the current climate, many of us may have taken some time to reflect upon our employment and employability. Some people may have concerns about their employer’s and their own positions post-covid, whilst others may have taken the extra time we have spent at home to consider their careers and professional development in a new light. If for whatever reason you are starting to consider a move into or within the sector, or just want to re-fresh your CV & employability skills, then these sessions are for you. Across two interactive sessions, we will cover CV Writing, Job Searching and Interview Techniques. These sessions will be tailored towards securing a role within the rail industry and will be suitable for both those already in the sector and those looking to transition.

Session 1 – CV Writing & Job Searching
Thursday 26th November at 4pm

Within this we will cover; CV writing & formatting (targeted specifically to the rail sector), how to identify your skills and match these to employers/vacancies, finding opportunities and exploring available resources & approaches that can be used to secure your ideal role.

This session will be held over Zoom and will be approximately 1 hour 30mins. This will be an interactive session and you are encouraged to ask as many questions as you like. It may be useful to have a copy of your current CV to hand during this session but it is not necessary.

A follow up pack will be provided with templates & overview.

Please register interest via Eventbrite.

Session 2 – Interview Skills
Thursday 3rd December at 4pm

Within this session we will look at the different types of interview commonly used in the industry; phone, video, face to face and competency/assessment centres. We will cover off basic do’s and don’ts, how to prepare for each type of interview, what to expect in them and how these interviews are usually assessed. A large part of this session will cover effective research, an honest delve into employers’ expectations and most importantly how to best display your skills.

This session will be held over Zoom and will be approximately 1 hour.

Take away materials will be provided on the topics covered.

Please register interest via Eventbrite.
