In April Women in Rail launched a survey to identify and celebrate the 20 Rising Stars of the UK rail industry 2017.
The survey is the first of its kind, its purpose being to create a shortlist of remarkable women who are in the early stages (e.g. the first 5 years in the aggregate) of their career in the railway but have already made an impact on their fellow men and women and are on track to become the leaders and inspirational women of tomorrow.
We asked men and women across the UK rail industry to nominate women who have demonstrated outstanding technical abilities and personal values, who have shown potential in shaping the future of our industry or displayed tremendous initiative and pro-activity, either by trying something different or empowering men or women in our sector, women whose behaviour and professionalism has been exemplary and who have inspired others to support fellow women and/or to opt for a career in rail.
121 amazing women were nominated by their peers which is a tremendous result and the 20 winners were announced in June this year.
A report showcasing interview with these rising stars will be released late next month. To celebrate, Women in Rail is hosting a drinks reception on 20th September 2017, at the offices of Ashurst Solicitors, in London, from 5pm to 8pm.
It will be an opportunity to meet the winners, the nominees and the many wonderful men and women who support them.
