Women in Rail and Network Rail – Period Dignity

Thursday 19th September 2024 12:00 – 13:00

In partnership with Bloody Good Employers/Bloody Good Period, Women in Rail and Network Rail are hosting a virtual national event on Thursday 19 September at 12 noon to discuss period dignity.

Did you know that:
• 89% of people have experience anxiety or stress in the workplace due to their period.
• 25% of people believe that taking time off because of menstrual health issues has impacted their career progression.
• 4% of people never have access to toilets or breaks while at work.
These statistics were gathered a result of research Bloody Good Employers undertook with over 3000 respondents to understand how periods affect people in work. The findings make it clear that there is a need for change.

Come along and listen to our speakers, Dannielle Dickens, Network Rail’s EDI Specialist and Elysha Paige, Development Director from Bloody Good Employers.

Dannielle will speak about Network Rail’s journey to becoming certified as a Bloody Good Employer which involves a four-step process under The Bloody Good Employers Programme.

Elysha will speak about the important work her organisation does in terms of delivering menstrual supplies to those who really need them, educating on sexual and reproductive health, helping to eradicate the stigma around periods and menstruation and making sure that everyone who menstruates is treated fairly.

We are delighted to be running this Women in Rail national online event with corporate sponsors Network Rail. Corporate sponsors are key in providing support and funding which means we are able to continue our work in addressing the gender imbalance and making the rail sector inclusive for all.

This event with Network Rail and Bloody Good Employers is open to everyone, Women in Rail member or not. If you are interested in becoming a member at no cost at all, see here – https://womeninrail.org/contact-us/.

Feel free to bring along your lunch and any questions you might have on this key topic.

We look forward to seeing you.
