Women in Rail and the Railway Industry Association
celebrate five years of the EDI Charter for Rail

After a challenging 2025 for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, this moment matters.

The rail industry has reached a defining point. After a year that tested momentum, confidence, and commitment around EDI, we have a powerful opportunity to reset our intentions, recommit to progress, and come together with purpose.

On 22 January 2026, the industry will gather in person in London to mark a landmark milestone: five years of the EDI Charter for Rail. This is more than an anniversary. It is the first dedicated EDI event of its kind for the railway, and a statement of where the future of our industry is heading.

This event is about filling the room with people who care. Leaders, advocates, allies, and change-makers who believe that EDI is not a side conversation, but central to the success, sustainability, and credibility of rail.

A varied, inspiring programme with real stories and real impact

The afternoon brings together powerful TED-style talks, success stories born directly from the Charter, and honest conversations about what inclusion looks like today and what it must become by 2030. From neuroinclusion and mental health, to grief, masculinity, mentoring, and career progression, the programme reflects the full human experience of our industry.

Each session highlights progress made not in theory, but in practice, through people, partnerships, and tangible outcomes enabled by the Charter.

The formal programme is followed by informal networking in London, creating space to reconnect, exchange ideas, and strengthen the relationships that drive change forward.

Why this event matters now
This anniversary is a moment to pause, reflect, and then look ahead with renewed clarity. It is a chance to set collective resolutions for the next five years of EDI in rail, together, in the room.

Places are limited, and this is an in-person-only event.

If EDI is part of your present or your future, this is the event to attend, support, and share across your networks.

Let’s come together and show, visibly and confidently, that EDI is the future of rail.

Once you register – you will receive a calendar invite with the full agenda with timings.
