Join Women in Rail and the Railway Industry Association to celebrate five years of the EDI Charter for Rail.

November 2025 marked five years since the launch of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Charter for Rail – a key milestone in our shared mission to foster a more inclusive and equitable sector, where everyone feels valued and able to thrive.

To mark this achievement, we are hosting an in-person event on 22 January 2026 – an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, reflect on our collective progress and explore the future of EDI in rail. The event will look at the Charter’s success stories, and cover topics including:

TED Talk : Neuroinclusion on the Tracks
Railway Industry Neuroinclusive Committee (RINC). Did you know that RINC was founded through EDI Charter? We enabled their success by consulting on group structure, communications and advertising as a starting point.

TED Talk : Mental Health & Masculinity in Rail
Andy’s Man Club, How EDI charter helped their railway jounrey, and their success story of getting a whole train wrapped.

TED Talk : Leading with Empathy: EDI at EMR
Charlotte Bishop, East Midlands Railway, The power of mentoring. Discuss coffee roulette and how mentoring can be used to empower discussions, representation and upward movement.

TED Talk: Navigating Grief
How navigating emotions, not just characteristics, is an important element of EDI and Wellbeing. One of our most successful signatory forums sessions have been the two bereavement sessions that were conducted by Cat O’Brien founder of the Railway Industry Bereavement Support Group.
