WR 2021 Cross-Company Mentoring Programme
The Women in Rail Mentoring Programme is a proven, practical and powerful mentoring initiative, bringing together mentors and mentees from all grades and roles within the UK rail sector.
The Programme is delivered by Women in Rail with the support of Moving Ahead, a specialist organisation, making it a really simple and easy opportunity for you to support colleagues during what we know is an extremely challenging time for many in our sector, let alone HR and Learning and Development teams.
More information on the Programme and a copy of the 2021 Women in Rail Mentoring Programme Information pack can be found on the mentoring section of the Women in Rail website here.
If your organisation is interested in signing up to the Mentoring Programme, please ask your relevant HRDs / HRBPs / L&D / D&I leads to e-mail us at WRMentoringTeam@moving-ahead.org
WR Mentoring Programme 2021 Launch Event took place on Wednesday 20th January when the 2021 Programme was explained in more detail.
The aim of Women in Rail mentoring is to retain and develop diverse women within the sector, supporting them to fulfill their career potential and progress to more senior roles. While this will always remain a core focus for the Programme, and because mentoring is an established method for fostering an inclusive workforce, we are moving towards a wider aim of creating a culture of equality and inclusion within rail. To that end, in 2020, to further grow foundations with our male allies, we welcomed male mentees alongside female mentees (with male mentees being matched to a female mentor and female mentees continuing to be matched to female mentors, unless they explicitly specified otherwise). Similarly, this year, we are encouraging participating companies to invite applications from female mentees within their own diversity network, in line with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Charter and the promotion of equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all grades and roles within the UK railway industry.
The Women in Rail Mentoring Programme continues to also include a pro-bono fund, giving women out of work (either because of a career break or redundancy) free mentoring support from a more senior industry professional to enable them to restart or further their career in rail. If you, as an individual, would like to take part in the Programme as a pro-bono mentee, please let us know by getting in touch at: WRMentoringTeam@moving-ahead.org (please note these spaces are limited and subject to eligibility criteria).
