Kid’s Hour – Osprey Talk with Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust!

Join Women in Rail on Thursday 4 March for Kid’s Hour – with special guest: Abi Mustard, Osprey Information Officer for Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust

Managed by the Leicestershire & Rutland Wildlife Trust in partnership with Anglian Water, Rutland Water Nature Reserve is one of the best places to enjoy watching birds and other wildlife throughout the year. Comprising a network of lagoons and wetland habitats, connected by meadows and woodland, the nature reserve is an internationally recognised site. With over 25,000 wildfowl, such as wigeon, gadwall and teal spending the winter months foraging on the lagoons, this also helps give the nature reserve its SSSI status. During the spring and summer months it is home to the iconic Rutland ospreys, which were reintroduced in the 1990’s as part of a pioneering conservation project, and today, we welcome more than 25 adults back each spring and have up to 10 breeding pairs, one of which you can see from the nature reserve itself or view via a live webcam stream.

About Kids Hour

Over the last 12 months, increased focus has been put on the need to safeguard our mental health during the prolonged periods of lockdown. As we move into Spring, the emphasis is put on the need to protect the mental wellbeing of children.

To support #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek 2021, Women in Rail has launched a series of weekly after school sessions – Kid’s Hour. Kid’s Hour will take place every Thursday afternoon at 4pm and consist of free one hour online fun and educational sessions for the younger members of our community.
