About this session
The Women in Rail South Bookclub continues with our July book, Around the World in 80 Trains by Monisha Rajesh.
Whilst we might not be having the holidays we’d imagined in 2021 we can indulge in some railway related escapism through Monisha’s travel guide!
From the cloud-skimming heights of Tibet’s Qinghai railway to silk-sheeted splendour on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, Around the World in 80 Trains is a celebration of the glory of train travel and a witty and irreverent look at the world.
Travelling with her fiancé from London St Pancras to Russia and Mongolia, North Korea, Canada, Kazakhstan and beyond, it is a journey of movement and mayhem whilst taking in some of the earth’s most breath-taking views.
The book club discussion will take place on Zoom and will be a reflection on the themes in the book and what we’ve learnt from them. Not only will we have a great discussion on the book of the month, there will be the opportunity to engage with others in the Women in Rail South community. It will also be a chance to give your suggestions for future books for us to read and share together.
