Biodiversity at Potteric Carr: Family Friendly Long Tour

Women in Rail Yorkshire, GB Railfreight and the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust invite you and your family for a fun and informative tour of Potteric Carr Nature Reserve in Doncaster.

Tucked between the East Coast Mainline and GB Railfreight’s regional office, this is a chance to explore the amazing life that whizzes past the window! Potteric Carr is a sanctuary for wildlife and a dynamic example of the rich biodiversity of the area. This family-friendly tour of the reserve will explore the importance of wetland habitat both for the array of creatures that make it their home, and for us as we seek answers to the climate crisis.

As well as the wonderful reserve, Potteric Carr hosts a gift shop and excellent café so feel free to arrive early for breakfast or stay for lunch!

The café, shop and nature reserve are all suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. People using wheelchairs, powerchairs and mobility equipment can find more information about the reserve here, thanks to Accessible Nature.

There will be 2 tours available on the day. This is the longer walking tour which takes in additional parts of the reserve and bird hides. If you would prefer the shorter walking tour please click here – Short Potteric Carr Tour.

Please wear sensible shoes (trainers, walking shoes, wellies) and weather-suitable clothing.

Access to the reserve for the reminder of the day is included (family ticket usually £12).

Option for lunch at the café (not included).

Toilets (including disabled access) and baby-change
