The death of George Floyd has again shown that we live in a world of inequality and prejudice, where some people still treat others unfairly on the sole ground of their ethnic and cultural differences. This is despicable. Diversity is an amazing gift. Each individual is unique in terms of their opinions, background, religious and political beliefs, sexual orientation, heritage. Their lives should be marked by a celebration of these differences and their ability to enrich our own.

At Women in Rail, we are all volunteers passionate about the value of diversity. We are shocked and appalled by recent events and our resolve, passion, commitment and determination to make the railway a welcoming and inclusive industry for all, regardless of gender, ethnicity and religious beliefs, is stronger than ever.

We believe in diversity and equality and we want everyone to be treated with respect. We will continue our relentless work and our campaign for diversity and inclusion. Prejudice and discrimination in any shape or form is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated or justified. By anyone. Anywhere. Ever.
