Hosted by Jacqui Kendall, Women in Rail South Committee member, the visit gave attendees the chance to learn how the NMT monitors the rail network every four weeks, using advanced technology, data collection and expert analysis to identify defects and potential issues before they impact railway operations.

Throughout the journey, the group heard directly from the onboard team, who shared valuable insights into the processes and systems used to maintain and improve the UK’s rail infrastructure. Their expertise and willingness to answer questions helped bring to life the vital work that often goes unseen by passengers.

Alongside the learning opportunities, attendees were treated to spectacular coastal views across Cornwall, providing the perfect backdrop for networking and discussion with fellow rail professionals.
