Rail industry celebrates the 2020 Women in Rail Award Winners
Whilst a live event was not possible, the UK rail industry flooded social media to celebrate the winners of the third annual Women in Rail Awards.
The Women in Rail Awards celebrate everyone in UK rail, men and women, teams and companies, who are working hard to promote gender balance, equality and diversity in the rail workforce and to create a more inclusive work culture in our sector.
The Women in Rail Awards received over 300 entries from a wide range of individuals, teams and companies in the railway industry, spreading across nine awards categories. The calibre of the men, women, teams and companies nominated were again exceptional this year, creating a challenging task for the judges to establish shortlists and select the winners.
The Judges commented: “It has been an absolute privilege to review the nominations submitted for the Women in Rail Awards this year. The calibre of entries was incredibly high, and it was very difficult to select the winners as so many of the nominees deserve to be recognised for their incredible achievements. The future of rail is truly in safe hands.”
After much deliberation, the shortlists and winners were announced, with 9 awards presented across 5 individual categories and 4 team and corporate categories, together with 4 Highly Commended recognitions.
Women in Rail founder and Group Strategy and Legal Director at CPMS, Adeline Ginn MBE, commented: “A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Women in Rail Awards.
I am delighted we have been able to recognise and celebrate, albeit digitally, the inspirational contribution of all the winners of this year’s Women in Rail Awards and I very much look forward to welcoming them on stage, next year, at the Women in Rail Awards 2021, for a well-deserved cheer and round of applause from all of us.
“Warm congratulations to all the winners, highly commended and to the shortlisted nominees. Your hard work and dedication to promoting female talent and driving forward change, equality and diversity in our industry is exceptional.”
