Rail Supply Group

Women in Rail attended the launch of the Rail Supply Group on Wednesday 21st January at the Department for Business Innovation & Skills in London. The Secretary of State for Transport (Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP) and the Secretary of State for Business Innovation & Skills (Rt Hon Vince Cable MP) were in attendance as well as many stakeholders representatives and executives from the rail industry.

Women in Rail is one of the contributing organisations to the RSG as one of the objectives of the newly created group is to address the skills gaps across the whole of the rail sector.

In its vision statement, the RSG expresses a willingness to support Women in Rail and Young Rail Professionals to promote the benefits of a career in rail. To achieve this objective, we will work with the RSG on some of our joint initiatives such as, the Ambassadors Programme and our mentoring scheme to ensure that talented women are encouraged and supported to further their career in rail and become the senior managers and/or executives of the future.

We are very excited by this opportunity and will keep you posted of our work and progress with the RSG.
