The Bid Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating high-quality bid and tender submissions that support ABM UK’s growth across aviation, transportation, facilities management and other sectors.
Working closely with sales teams and operational stakeholders, the role manages the full bid lifecycle, including PQQs, ITTs, RFPs, clarifications, governance reviews and presentations. The position requires the creation of persuasive, customer-focused proposals, strong stakeholder engagement and excellent project management skills to ensure submissions are delivered on time and to a high standard. Ideal candidates will have strong bid writing experience, excellent written English, attention to detail and knowledge of the UK aviation, rail or outsourcing sectors.
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

ABM has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, precise, proactive and articulate individual with prior public and/or private sector bid management and bid writing experience within an aviation or rail tendering environment.
Previous experience within the aviation and/or transport sectors would be highly advantageous, enabling candidates to demonstrate an understanding of the operational challenges and service requirements within these environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and writing Passenger Assistance and Facilities Management bids across a diverse range of sectors, including aviation, transportation, commercial property, the public sector, distribution and many more.
This is a hybrid role based between ABM’s Heathrow office and home. The position offers the opportunity to join a growing team within a rapidly expanding organisation, with excellent opportunities for development and career progression.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of the Business Development team, the successful candidate will work alongside Sales Directors and Managers to support the acquisition of new business opportunities. Responsibilities will include managing tender projects through all stages, including PQQs, ITTs, clarification management, process governance and presentations.
The role holder will be responsible for producing high-quality bid response documents and presentations, working to strict deadlines and developing compelling, winning proposals that support business growth. The successful candidate will be expected to write persuasive and concise responses to customer PQQs, ITTs and RFPs, drawing upon a strong command of written English and the ability to write autonomously and knowledgeably about Facilities Management and sector-specific outsourcing contracts.
The role will operate within ABM’s APMP-aligned bid process and involve close collaboration with members of the Business Development team and subject matter experts across the organisation.
Candidates should possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft’s collaborative working tools, alongside a positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn. The role requires engagement with stakeholders at all levels of the business to ensure the successful progression and completion of bids.
The ideal candidate will be organised, reliable, detail-oriented and enthusiastic, with a passion for writing and an interest in developing broader bid management capabilities within a fast-paced commercial environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise workload, and coordinate, review and complete high-quality bids within agreed timescales.
- Manage the bidding process to ensure delivery against internal bid deadlines and governance requirements.
- Build effective internal relationships to gather information and develop accurate, concise and persuasive content relating to service delivery and management.
- Organise document layouts in accordance with customer requirements.
- Produce bespoke, on-brand and impactful bid documents and presentations.
- Maintain and develop the team’s bid content library.

- Degree-level education or an equivalent qualification.
Familiarity with:
- Publishing software such as InDesign or Scribus.
- Microsoft Excel.
- Microsoft Project, Planner and Teams.
