Your future role

The General Manager plays a critical role within the UK Services Execution management team, acting as the primary project interface between the customer’s operations teams, the core project team, and project leadership.

The purpose of the role is to lead the day‑to‑day delivery of contractual obligations, providing clear leadership and direction to project teams while acting as project strategy lead and key customer contact. This includes ensuring the successful delivery of the Technical Service Agreement to Transport for London within budget, applying consistent procedures, financial controls, and reporting performance through KPIs.

The role is focused on maximising customer and supplier relationships, driving strong communication and performance, identifying risks, opportunities, and savings to enhance business margin and customer positioning, whilst ensuring all activities are delivered in full compliance with quality and safety standards.

We’ll look to you for:

  • The P&L of the Project and its associated Estimate at Completion Position including Return on Performance, Provide appropriate Project Performance Reporting at Project Reviews, Customer(s) Reviews and Governance Meetings (Monthly Project Reviews, Governance Project Review/Financial Project Review, Critical Project Reviews) utilising appropriate tools.
  • Managing the customer(s) interface on a day to day basis ensuring delivery to contract requirements and driving customer satisfaction.
  • Site Management – Responsible for Alstom site and staff management, Delivery, Quality, EHS processes in order to achieve and maintain a safe and efficient working environment
  • The Leadership and Direction of an on-site team and functions including managing individual Performance & Development, Succession Planning using the appropriate Alstom tools (ALPS/APSYS).

  • Significant experience of project and operational management incorporating: Best Practice, Total Quality Management, Continuous Improvement, Lean Management, Six Sigma, 8D analysis and ISO 9001 processes, preferably within the Rail Industry.
  • Proven Track Record in continuous improvement and cost down delivery.
  • Experience in QHSE site based requirements.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Strong Contract and Commercial knowledge.
  • Good communicator both through face to face discussions and presentations.
  • Excellent people management skills
