Role Overview
Stadler Rail is looking to recruit a Sales and Purchase Ledger Assistant to join its Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the purchase ledger process, supporting month-end procedures, and ensuring all invoices are uploaded to the relevant finance systems for payment. In addition, the postholder will be responsible for accurately raising sales invoices for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the sales and purchase ledger processes from end to end
- Collaborating with managers to obtain approvals and sign-off for payments
- Processing invoices using two separate systems
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Overseeing customer invoicing, ensuring accuracy and timely billing to support working capital management
- Handling incoming mail
- Closing accounting periods and generating sales and purchase ledger reports
- Ensuring the correct application of payment terms
- Processing employee expense claims and credit card transactions through an online expense management platform, including reviewing VAT treatment and ensuring compliance with company policies
- Establishing new suppliers and conducting VAT checks
- Managing intercompany invoicing and quarterly reconciliations
- Performing monthly bank reconciliations
Experience
- 1 to 3 years’ relevant experience
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong IT skills and experience using a variety of systems, including Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- AAT qualified or part-qualified
